People still get married when the economy is in the dumps, and one easy way to save a lot of money on a wedding is to bake your own cake. To save even more money (and have a little more fun!) you can bake your own cupcakes. Finding the perfect wedding cupcake stand is essential to the entire process. The problem is, where do you find one that suits your special day?

The answer to that question is tricky for me to answer since I’m not going to your wedding (the invite is in the mail, right?). What I can do is show you what your options are like and where you should turn to find wedding cupcake stands.

First, you have to decide whether or not you want this stand to have life beyond your wedding. If you want to keep it for future use, you should look into wire, plastic, or glass cupcake stands. If you never see yourself baking a ton of cupcakes again, go with cardboard. Both stands have their advantages, and we’ll take a look at those now.

Reusable cupcake stands are great because, well, you get to reuse them. If you have a lot of people coming to your wedding, it may require multiple stands. The generic Wilton cupcake stands only grow to about 40 cupcakes, so depending on the size of the guest list it may be more economical to go with cardboard.

Cardboard cupcake stands are perfect for larger occasions. The can be built to hold 300+ cupcakes, but are usually plain white cardboard which leaves you to decorate them. That may be right up your alley, but for many brides and their families this usually goes by the wayside. You probably won’t need the jumbo stand again, so it’s up to you to decide what its future is going to be.

The best use of wedding cupcake stands I’ve seen was a couple of years back when they used a mix of cardboard and wire stands.
