Wedding cupcake stands are just like every other stand out there, but most people will decorate them in a way that they jive perfectly with the rest of the party.  Decorating them can be as simple or elaborate as you like, and in this post I want to share some tips on decorating a wedding cupcake stand so you can have exactly what you want on your special day.  I also want to cover some reasons for not decorating them at all, and what type of cupcake stand this works best with.

Decorating Wedding Cupcake Stands

Like the rest of your wedding, there isn’t a specific way that this has to be done, so instead I will show you some things that are commonly done and you can customize them to your tastes from there.

Flowers are a simple and elegant way to dress up your stand.  When this technique is used, the cupcake stand is usually larger than what’s needed to accommodate the cupcakes and the empty space is filled with flowers.  The flowers that are used are normally the same that are in the table centerpieces so everything matches.

On cupcake stands with flat tiers, you may be able to drape fabric over the tiers in colors that match the rest of the event.  This is extremely simple, yet very effective.  Ribbon may also be wrapped around the lip of the tiers to add a splash of color on a plain, white cupcake stand.

The Case For Not Decorating

Now I’m not the best cupcake decorator, but I do know that if I were to create some very exquisite cupcakes, I would be upset if they were fighting for the spotlight with decorations on the stand!  If you’re getting professionally baked cupcakes that are decorated just for you, it might be best to let them shine on the stand, rather than the stand itself.

Another situation where I wouldn’t decorate the stand is if cupcakes are decorated in the colors of the wedding.  Wedding colors on a white cupcake stand looks very classy, and in most cases is enough to stand on its own.

Decorating wedding cupcake stands is very easy to do, should you choose to do it.  If you’re on the fence on whether to decorate or not, bake a couple of cupcakes and test them out with some decorations to see how it looks.  It’s much easier to make a decision like this when you can get a clear idea of what it’s going to look like, rather than relying on your imagination!
