Trying to track down a vintage cupcake stand can be pretty tough.  There are a lot of them floating around, but the odds of finding one that you like, in the right size and shape, is rare.  However, don’t give up hope!  There are a few ways to get cupcake stands like this without having to pull your hair out!

Where To Find Vintage Cupcake Stands

Retro cupcake stands are normally found at yard sales, and if you live in a large city this is probably the best way to get one.  Being in a large city give you a heck of a lot more options because there are hundreds of yard sales going on any given Saturday or Sunday.  Obviously, this is a patience game because you aren’t going to find one at the first few sales that you go to.  Have faith in the fact that you will come across one, should you take this route!

Second hand, thrift, and antique stores can also be helpful for finding the cupcake stand that you need.  Antique cupcake stands are rare because baking cupcakes in large quantities for parties is a fairly new phenomenon.  It’s not like tracking down cake pans, where that has been extremely popular for a very long time.  It’s a good idea to check these places out, but don’t get your hopes up that you will find the perfect stand.

eBay was a good choice for a while, but the retailers that were selling old cupcake stands seem to have faded away.  I was able to pick up a large tower style cupcake stand there a few years ago, but I just checked again and there really weren’t that many options.  You may still want to give it a shot, you may be luckier than I am!

(Not So) Retro Cupcake Stands

Another idea that I’ve helped people out with in the past is getting a new cupcake stand and making it look “vintage.”  In order to do this you have to have a pretty clear idea of what vintage looks like to you, it’s different for just about everyone, then get a new stand that has a similar shape to your vision and decorate it as such.  Not only do you get the look that you want, it will look exactly how you wanted it to since you are the one decorating it.  The hybrid new/old idea is the easiest way to get a truly original cupcake stand!

Finding vintage stands isn’t impossible, it just takes time to find it.  If you don’t have the time (or the patience!) to find one, use the hybrid idea to get the perfect stand rather quickly!
